The End of Game Testing? Stay Legitimate
There is a consensus to the game testing world lately, or at least in the stay at home game testing and freelance game testing world. That many representatives from video game companies and Xbox 360 game companies alike are skeptical of hiring freelance testers due to the fidelity of game testers in their history. Meaning that many of their past 360 testers have over stepped or even broken guidelines they were given when testing a particular game. In most cases they leaked the game. If you are not familiar with the term, leaked means to show the game in early stages at whence the developers are preemptive to let the public see. Leaking can sometimes be great for a game, it may increase popularity and create hype from the small slices of unfinished game they might see. Still, game developers and mostly game publicist hate when these events occur. Not to mention they hate that their contract was broken with an employee that they may never find.
The temptation maybe hard if your in this situation but staying legitimate with your contract will be best for everyone. It is now sometimes harder to get a particular game due to this. They will sometimes turn you away or put you on a back list, until further instructions. Make sure if you become a tester to realize that staying legitimate will help you get more testing jobs in the future. If we don't stay consistent with a game companies guidelines it could be the end of game testing. Maybe not the end of game testing right now, but surely in a couple more years it could be severely detrimental to the business.
To all of you who leaked... Shame will be handed out after I get done watching this new clip of Gears of War 5 that I just found on the Internet.
