Game Tester Location and Relocation

Someday you might want to work as a game tester inside a revered gaming studio or company. Being an Xbox 360 tester working with the dev team and the production staff. Of course this could be a hard task if you have minimal education or experience. People are wondering if they need to live in certain location to find a school that specializes in video game testing. Most of the time the answer is no, most areas offer a tech school of some sort such as ITT tech. These schools are easy accommodations that are usually offered in a variety of locations and don't require much to get into. Although a game testing career won't require you to relocate to go to college or school it might be a different story when you get the job.

If you are freelance game tester your location is irrelevant, you can get games sometimes when you don't even live in the same country. Meaning that Europe or the UK can get games from North American gaming studios and vice versa. If you want to work with a game development team you might have to relocate. Where are these game studios? you might ask. Well the ideal place to live would be in California or some where on the immediate east side. But there are game studios and subsidiaries located all around the United States, Canada, UK and other parts of Europe. There are a few Japanese studios in English speaking areas but as we said before it would be better to shoot for an American or UK studio. There is a lot of work for the Xbox consoles. Some people will just opt for getting work online or using other connections to avoid relocation. Still, if you took the time to go to college moving closer to your job shouldn't be that much of a commitment.
