Game Testing on the PS3 and Wii

So I know that this site is, for the most part, dedicated to Xbox Testing, but that's probably going to change. I am decided that I might actually change the site to support other consoles beside the Microsoft Xbox. This due mostly because the times are changing and the atmosphere for video game testing is widening to other consoles and here is why. I have always said that the Xbox 360 was the best console to test on because there is usually no complications with localization and it's more closely related to a computer (which avoids mishaps with hardware).

The Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii are both Japanese consoles that have a majority of games coming from Japan itself. This is where the good news comes in. That has been changing lately and mostly due to digital distribution. Smaller games that are sold on PSN and WiiWare are from a lot of western developers. On top of that, finally, the PS3 has caught up to the Xbox 360 when it comes to multi platform games. Big multiplatform titles not only need freelance testers for the Xbox but they also need them for the Playstation.

Getting back to digital distribution, there are several great games coming out of the wood work. Including the game Fat Princess for the PSN or Playstation 3. It is a team based overhead shooter that will be released this summer. The game has already released a beta, which you might have been lucky enough to participate in. Anyway, games like this show that there is work to be done in every corner of the gaming world.

So if you really had your sights set on testing for the Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 then it is coming into fruition more than ever before. Don't think that when you sign up you will be playing first party games from Nintendo or Sony. That takes a lot of time and effort inside the gaming community. The games you test might not be ideal but it is a commitment and a step in the right direction.
