The Games you will be Testing

Every company needs to have their games tested, no matter if it is a C title or triple A block buster hit. Bigger companies have a bigger budget for more resources for a better game. A lot of this budget will be spent hiring testers to polish the game and find bugs. Companies like EA, Ubisoft, Activision are huge multi-hit companies that will hire many testers for their games development. The genre of games will vary, but you know that the platform Xbox 360 has a lot of hardcore titles. So, you can look for Shooters and Action games and probably won't have many platformers and RPGs but be prepared to play any genre.

Game genres will usually not be given by preference or utility, it will most likely be given by the companies agenda. You will probably have to play a variety of games before you can make choices on what games you want to test. In later stages you can apply to game studios directly and work only on their source material.

For the most part you won't know how good of a game you will be recieving and may work on budget titles. The qualtiy of the game doesn't always dampen the game testing experience, there is still a lot to do even in the worst of games. Also, every developer is trying to make the best game ever made so they don't consider their work to be bad.
